Poor Tom has been our mascot for thirty years.  He would like to tell you about some sensible reasons why cats should be kept indoors.

ö                        They are less likely to be hit by a car crossing the living room than they are crossing the street.

ö                        Their owners are less likely to bite them or to have rabies, fleas or worms than are free-roaming animals.

ö                        Their owners won't have to bail them out of the local shelter.

ö                        It's unlikely their owners will transmit to them the feline leukemia virus, feline immunodeficiency virus and other contagious diseases.

ö                        When it's 10:00 at night, their owners will always know where they are.  Well, at least they will know they are inside, getting ready to start playing at midnight.

ö                        It will be much more difficult for people to steal them (especially people who do laboratory testing on animals).

ö                        They won't get killed, attacked or eaten by dogs, foxes and coyotes.

ö                        There is less chance of them getting hurt, abused, tortured, poisoned or killed by humans.

ö                        They won't get locked in a garage or shed and freeze to death.

They'll live longer, happier lives!
